July 19, 2025🎥 TEMPO LATINO PRESENTS: The documentary Nueva York, a musical history of New York Latino will be screened at the Cinéma de Vic Fezensac on Saturday, July 26 at 4:00 p.m.
From the "barrio" gangs of Spanish Harlem to the worldwide success of salsa, and from "West Side Story" to the Spielberg remake, this documentary traces the extraordinary epic of Latino music in New York, which has carried identity claims to frenzied rhythms.
Through rich, often little-known archives, and delightful interviews with artists and specialists, this caliente history and that of its figures, "Nueva York, A Musical History of Latino New York" shows the extent to which these bewitching rhythms served as instruments for asserting the civil rights of a huge Hispanic community in an America that denied them.
