April 3, 2025Sunday, July 27 - 4:00 pm at Eglise Saint Pierre, Vic-Fezensac
ROGÊ, the Carioca singer and guitarist, presents his new album Curyman II
and celebrates the roots of samba, from Angola to Brazil...
Emblematic figure of the Musica Populeira Brasileira (MPB) revival and
of sambalanço, the marriage of samba and funk, Roger José Cury aka Rogê has
long been the "prince of the night scene" in Rio's Lapa district. The
songwriter and guitarist has performed alongside the famous sambista Arlindo Cruz
or his long-time accomplice Seu Jorge, celebrating the heritage of Brazilian music with modernity
.
It was in Los Angeles that he found inspiration and new musicians for
his sixth solo album Curyman with producer Thomas Brenneck.
With the same team and the participation of arranger Arthur Verocai, Rogê has
decided to continue the adventure with a second installment and share his
belief in the power of music to inspire hope and perseverance.
STÉPHANE SAN JUAN, a versatile musician, began his musical
career in Montpellier, honing his skills as a drummer and
percussionist in local ensembles. In 1995, he moved to London and
collaborated with artists such as Andy Sheppard and Sibongile Khumalo. His
stint in Paris with the Malian duo Amadou & Mariam led him to live at
Mali, tour the world and contribute to Grammy-nominated albums
. In 2000, he joined the +2 in Rio de Janeiro, immersing himself
in Brazilian music. His Brazilian chapter includes
collaborations with renowned artists such as ROGÊ... which have earned him
awards, including Latin Grammy Awards.
